The appliances in this auction were made by trusted manufacturers like Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Frigidaire, Samsung, Sharp, and other home appliance providers.
Inflation in the Market
In July of this year, the price of major appliances averaged 12% higher than they were the year before. In particular, ranges, dishwashers, and refrigerators were 12% more expensive, while washer and dryer pairs were 18% more expensive.
Consumer Price Index stats released just this month by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the overall price of home appliances rose by nearly 5% in July when compared to the same time in 2020. The report also showed that the price of laundry equipment rose almost 18% over the same period.
When it comes to the free market, no other selling method directly shows market demand in the same way that auctions do. Auctions allow bidders to determine a product’s value through direct competition, without external forces like inflation directly influencing an item’s price.
