GPS will also be hosting the ArtStart event, which is a wonderful opportunity to select fine art from the Chattanooga’s most collectible artists while supporting Fine Arts education at GPS and our area’s arts community. The local talent represented is truly exceptional, and GPS is pleased to help increase awareness of our area’s artists among GPS alumnae, parents, and friends, as well as members of the greater Chattanooga community.
Thanks to the generosity of the artists participating, GPS will receive at least 50% of the proceeds from each piece sold. Proceeds will be used to benefit all students involved in the Fine Arts at GPS.
VISIONS Art Start provides annual funding for our innovative guest artist program that brings to campus top-notch professionals in their fields. Over the past decade, painters, sculptors, musicians, dancers, and craftsmen have made lasting impressions on our students and helped them discover new interests in the arts. The Fine Arts department attributes Art Start for helping set their program apart. In the future, we would hope to include more local artists in this series.
GPS will host a public art show on Tuesday, February 19, in the lobby of the school’s Frierson Theatre from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. On this final day of the online auction, we are pleased to provide an opportunity for potential buyers to view the works before they make that one last bid! You are more than welcome to drop by and bring your friends.
By providing a donation to GPS you are opening a new door of opportunity; 41% of students at GPS would not be able to attend our school without support from donors like you. Donations for this event will help to provide Academic development, leadership and community initiatives, fine art and athletic programs, and financial assistance to girls who otherwise would not have this wonderful opportunity.
